Conveying a sense of mystery and awakening the imagination, the paintings of Nancy Hannans and Denise Shamoun Phalan capture moments in time. Rich in symbolism, their work explores the real and the imagined. They inspire the viewer to interpret the artists’ visual clues and to formulate their own conclusions.
Vibrant and joyful, these paintings give an intimate glimpse into the subjects portrayed. Looking closely at their work, one cannot help but notice the similarity in iconography. The differences in style add a new dimension to these “painted stories.” Both Hannans and Phalan are award-winning Virginia artists and art educators. You can always see their work at Studio 5, The Workhouse (www.workhousearts.org) Gallery and Studio Hours: Wed. thru Sat. 11am – 7pm Sun. 12 – 5pm
